Today, Sandra talked about different software and Filmware. She also talked about trouble shooting. She told us that it's very important to store our information on backup computers and to bookmark websites that you like or use. Even if you use a site occasionaly she found it handy to keep them just in case. Overall, today was great:)

Today Ms.Sandra(the talking lady). Told us about Windows XP. She showed me how to change certain settings on it and basically walked me through the steps. She basically taught me the fundamentals of operating some basic systems.

She basically told me about what to have in your tool kit. Everytime you have a customer you will learn that you need more tools. Over the years your tool kit will build up more and more. She showed us the computer and how to take off the outer case.

Today I learned a lot about how to take the A+ Certification exam on videos.  The guy told us how to prepare for the exam and gave us tips on what to do if we fail it. He encouraged us and told us not to feel dumb if we failed. A+ is also now required for computer technicians. It was a great day!

What is Virtual PC?

A: It is the latest virtualization technology from Microsoft and lets you run many different applications. It has many different windows that will run with it such as: Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. It also runs with Macs.

What is A+ Certification?

A: It is a class that will certify you after learning computer technical support. It qualifies you for working in the technical computer industry. It helps you learn and prove that you have basic knowledge supporting microcomputers.

Why be Certified?

A: It is important to have basic knowledge about this class. Especially because of how our whole world is now running on technology. A lot of service companies are having this program required in order to work for them. It helps the company make sure they have good staff who our on top of things and knowledgeable.

What type of test do you take?

A: You have to take two exams to be certified: Essentials, and Practical Application. Essentials is where you are hands on in the field. Practical Applications is still hands on but you are troubleshooting the machine. Dell, Intel, etc have made this mandatory for all their technicians.

How much does the test cost?

Close to $150.00

Where do you go to take the test?

You have to go to a testing center to take it. Or you have the option of taking it online.
